In 1918 Chicago, Illinois Edward Anthony Masen Jr. was awaiting his eighteenth birthday. He planned to enlist, to serve his country, arm in arm, on front lines or in the trenches, of World War I.

Edward Cullen is 6'2" with a slender but muscular build. Eternally poised at seventeen, he has high cheekbones, a strong jawline, a straight nose, and full lips. His hair, which is always in casual disarray, retains the unusual bronze shade that he inherited from his biological mother. His eyes are described from a liquid golden topaz to a honey gold, except when he has gone too long without feeding. Then they darken, becoming almost black, accompanied by purple bruises under his eyes. He's also in possession of a dazzlingly crooked smile.
Like all of his kind, his skin is described as being like marble: very pale and ice cold. He is supernaturally fast, strong, and aware of his surrounding. It's very difficult to hurt him. Stakes, garlic, holy water and the like have no effect on him, and he can go out in the sunlight as long as he doesn't mind his skin going glittery as though he's inlaid with diamonds. He doesn't technically need to breathe, although he does for ease of fitting in and talking.
An empathetic person during his life, Edward's afterlife came with a gift: hearing peopleโs thoughts. You can, and should, assume Edward is hearing the thoughts of the person he's having a conversation with. He frequently uses other people's thoughts to gauge the safety of his self, and his family, and relies on it when interacting with humans. He rarely comes out and says nor reveals to the persons he is interacting with that he can.
